Liam is a new presence in contemporary Australian music.
Writing songs and performing since the age of 12, his original
sound shuffles between genres: folk, pop, rock, jazz, blues and
country.
His gifted lyricism captures an emotional spectrum, from delicate
expressions of youthful love, to courageous political commentary.
|
|
Yet the common thread between all of Liam's songs is that they
are inherently Australian - an expression of identity - what it
means to have grown up and to live in contemporary Australian
society. Liam will no doubt become a provocative voice for his
generation.
Wearing his musical heart on his sleeve, Liam conveys the sentiments
and conscience of a new generation, with a live performance to
match, either with his band, or solo.

Liam's debut EP was launched in February 2003, coinciding with
his performance at WOMADelaide where he was joined by one of Australia's
best known musicians, ABC Radio National presenter Lucky Oceans.
The performance was sensational and Lucky Oceans was also obviously
affected. The whole band grew another leg.
The success of this appearance led to an invitation to the WOMAD
Reading Festival in the UK in July 2003.

"Many sources claim Australia is
currently a hotbed of musical activity, something borne out by singer
/ songwriter Liam Gerner. Not yet 20, he wowed the audience and
earned a rare festival encore"
